Operational Budgets 2.0 - Creating a Budget

This guide walks you through creating an Operational Budget for your property using the Operational Budgets 2.0 page.

Getting Started

  1. Navigate to Accounting > Operational Budgets 2.0
  2. By default you will be taken to the Budget Tab
    • This is where all official budgets for the properties that you have permissions to will be.
  3. Find the property you’d like to start a budget for from the list
    • If the property’s budget hasn’t been started yet you ill see a green Start button
    • If the property’s budget has been started you will see a green View button.
  4. Click the Start button, which opens the Create Budget pop up.


Budget Creation Methods

The Create Budget pop up offers 2 options on the left side:


1. Copy Previous

Copy an existing budget, forecast, or actual data to use as your starting point.


Steps:

  1. Select Copy Previous from the left panel.
  2. Choose the Property you want to copy from (defaults to your current property)
  3. Select the Typeof data to copy:
    • Budget
    • Forecast
    • Actual
  4. Choose the Year from which to copy the data
  5. Optional: Add bulk adjustments to increase or decrease all expenses or revenue by a specific percentage



When to use: Best for creating budgets similar to previous periods or when you want to build on historical data.


2. Import / Start from Scratch

Use a template to import values or start from scratch in Inn-Flow.


Steps:

  1. Select Import / Start from Scratch from the left panel.
  2. Select which Chart of Accounts you would like to budget for.
    • Each department is an accordion with a checkbox. You can deselect the department checkbox to not include it in the budget.
    • In the accordion for each department are the Chart of Accounts associated. You can select or deselect any Chart of Account to include in the budget.
  1. After selecting your Chart of Accounts you can either:

    1. Click Create Budget at the bottom to start your budget from zero
    2. Or click Next to Step 2 in the top right to download the template.
  2. If you go to step 2 to download template you will:

    1. Download the template
    2. Read instructions in the download
    3. Fill out the template
    4. Upload the completed file into Inn-Flow
    5. Click Import Budget in the bottom right.


When to use: Ideal when you have budget data prepared in spreadsheets or prefer working in Excel.
