Google Authenticator as a Two-Factor Authentication Method

Modified on Fri, 26 Jul, 2024 at 3:01 PM

Two-factor authentication exists for high security pages, like Special Permissions and processing Payments. Instead of receiving a code only via text message, we've now added another preferred method for verification: Google Authenticator

Google Authenticator is a mobile security application based on two-factor authentication (2FA) that helps to verify user identities before granting them access to websites and services.

Only users with Special Permissions, like Making Payments, will have this option.

To change your preferred 2FA method, follow the below steps:

1. First, you will need to download the Google Authenticator app on your device.

2. From Inn-Flow, once logged in, go to your profile from the bottom left hand side of the page, and select My Profile.

3. Turn On the option for Google to get a QR Code that can be scanned.

4. Open the Google Authenticator App on your mobile device, and scan the QR Code shown. Follow the prompts accordingly, as you'll need to enter a six-digit code from your app into Inn-Flow to complete the setup.

5. You can keep both Text Message and Google turned On, but you will need to select which is your Primary Method to receive codes to.

6. If both are active, you'll have an option which you prefer to receive a code on, but your Primary will be selected by default.

IF PRO TIP: If you're having issues receiving text messages, or if you will be traveling outside of the US, it's suggested to use the Google Authenticator option.
