Can I match two payments to one invoice in Bank Sync?

Bank Sync does not support matching two separate bank transactions directly to a single invoice. Each bank transaction matches to one entry. However, you can handle split-payment situations using the Reconciliation page by matching each payment individually.

Example Scenario

Your linen vendor invoiced your property for $5,000. The hotel paid $3,000 on June 1 and the remaining $2,000 on June 15. Both bank transactions need to be reconciled against that single $5,000 invoice.

How to Handle Split Payments on the Reconciliation Page

  1. Go to Accounting > Register or Bank Sync > Reconciliation to open the manual reconciliation view.

  2. Within the Withdrawals or Checks section of the Reconciliation page, locate the two transactions that are related to the Bank Withdrawal.

  3. Check the box next to the $3,000 transaction to mark it as reconciled.

  4. Check the box next to the $2,000 transaction to mark it as reconciled.

  5. Return to the Bank Sync page, and Exclude the bank transaction from Bank Sync. You have already reconciled it manually, and Exluding it from Bank Sync will clear out the transaction from your list.

IF PRO TIP: If the two payments do not add up to the exact invoice amount, you can record the difference as a write-off or adjustment before matching.

Key Points

  • Bank Sync handles one-to-one matching only — one bank transaction to one book entry.

  • For multi-payment scenarios, use the Reconciliation page to select multiple bank-side items against a single entry.
