How do I reconcile deposits with more than one credit card type?

When your bank receives credit card deposits, it often combines multiple card types (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, etc.) into a single deposit amount. This makes reconciliation difficult because Inn-Flow tracks each card type as a separate deposit line in the Register. The Group Reconciliation Mappings feature solves this by letting you tell Inn-Flow which deposit types should be grouped together, so the combined total in Inn-Flow matches the single deposit on your bank statement.

Why this matters

Without grouping, you would see separate Visa, Mastercard, and Discover deposit lines in the Bank Reconciliation screen. Your bank statement shows one lump-sum deposit. Trying to reconcile individual card types against a combined bank deposit does not work. Group Reconciliation Mappings automatically combine the deposit types you select so they appear as a single line that matches your bank statement.

Setting up Group Reconciliation Mappings

  1. Go to Accounting > Bank Reconciliation and select the bank account you want to configure.

  2. Click the triple-dot menu in the top right corner and select Group Reconciliation Mappings.

  3. You will see any existing mappings. Click Add Deposit Grouping to create a new one.

  4. Select the deposit types you want grouped together (for example, Visa, Mastercard, and Discover), then click Create Group.

  5. You can click Add Another Group if you need additional groupings (for example, a separate group for POS deposit types), or click Exit when you are done.

Using grouped deposits during reconciliation

Once mappings are saved, any reconciliation screen for that EHID and bank account will include a Group Deposits toggle. When the toggle is on, the deposit types you mapped will appear as a single combined line. When the toggle is off, you see each card type individually with a Type column (Visa, Mastercard, etc.) to identify them.

This setting is saved per accounting period, so you can toggle between grouped and ungrouped views without affecting other periods.

Grouped deposits also appear combined during Bank Sync matching, making it easier to match incoming bank transactions.

IF PRO TIP: Setting up Group Reconciliation Mappings can save significant time during monthly bank reconciliation, especially if your bank combines three or more card types into a single daily deposit.
