How to add a repeating payroll allowance?

If you have recurring payroll allowances – such as a monthly cell phone or auto allowance – you can set them up to repeat automatically in two stages: first flag which pay types are allowances, then apply each allowance to the individual employee's profile.

Set up which pay types are allowances

In Labor Management, open the Payroll Processor tab, then select the Payroll Export Code Mapping tab. Choose the Export Format you are using. (You can confirm which Export Format each entity uses in the Payroll Export Recipient tab.)

Use the checkboxes on the right to select which additional pay types are Allowances. In this example, we set up a recurring Cell Phone Allowance.

Apply the allowance to the user profile

From the Users page, find the employee who should receive the allowance. In the Labor tab, scroll down to the Allowances section and select Add Allowance.

Enter the Allowance Name and select the Allowance Type. Only the allowances you flagged in the first step appear in the dropdown menu.

Set the Recurrence Period – how often the allowance is paid: every pay period, the first pay period of the month, or the last pay period of the month. Then enter the Allowance Amount and save.

Once saved, the allowance appears in the employee's profile.

Verify the setup

Confirm the allowance is set up correctly by opening the Current Pay cycle and selecting the employee's row.
