For a shift that crosses midnight, holiday hours are applied one of two ways depending on your Holiday Shift Attribution setting. To find it, navigate to Labor Management, then Settings, then Enterprise Wide Settings, and locate Holiday Shift Attribution.
Option 1 -- Majority of hours: Holiday hours apply to the day where the majority of the shift's hours fall.
Option 2 -- Punch-in day: Holiday hours apply to the day the employee physically punched in.
Option 1: Majority of Hours
If January 1 is the holiday, a Night Audit shift that starts on 12/31 and ends on 1/1 receives holiday pay, because 7 of its 8 hours are worked on the holiday.
If December 25 is the holiday, the shift where the employee clocks in on 12/24 receives holiday hours, because the majority of that shift falls on 12/25. The overnight shift that clocks in on 12/25 and out on 12/26 does not receive holiday hours, because the majority of its hours fall on 12/26.
Option 2: Punch-In Day
If January 1 is the holiday, a Night Audit shift that starts on 1/1 and ends on 1/2 receives holiday pay, because the punch-in occurred on January 1. The shift that punches in on 12/31 but clocks out on 1/1 does not receive holiday pay.
If December 25 is the holiday, the shift where the employee clocks in on 12/25 receives holiday hours, because the punch-in occurred on the holiday. The overnight shift that clocks in on 12/24 and out on 12/25 does not receive holiday hours, because the punch-in occurred on 12/24, which is not the holiday.
